Mara Hoffman Resort Swim 2016, Miami Swim Week

Mara Hoffman:
A truly talented and spirited designer, Mara Hoffman's collections never disappoint.  They're filled with color, life and a passion for drawing inspiration from all that is beautiful around us.  This year's presentation was influenced by Marrakesh, in the 70's.  It was held at the famous Casa Casuarina, the Versace Mansion, in the heart of South Beach, on Ocean Drive.

The location was perfect - with bright blue, mosaic tiled pools as their backdrop, the girls posed elegantly alongside small Moroccan tea sets, lounging cross-legged on woven rugs.

The collection consisted of loose fitting tunics and swimsuits with unusual cuts, printed with the familiar geometric patterns Hoffman is known for.  To complete their looks, the models donned headwraps and bold silver vintage necklaces and bracelets by curated by Linda Pastorino.  Makeup was by Sephora Pro artists.  Check out the pictures I snapped while at the Mara Hoffman Resort Swim 2016 Presentation.

Mara Hoffman Resort Swim will be fully available for purchase in November.  There are a few pieces that have been released, like the Starbasket Printed Sarong, seen above and one of my favorite pieces, the Starbasket one-piece surf suit.

Off-Duty: Palm Tree Haven

Good morning!
There's beauty in so much of this city, even in our own backyards.  Miami is paradise, (provided you don't have to commute for more than 4 minutes).  If you're lucky, you don't have to go very far, and can enjoy our palm trees, oceans, and endless summers.

My bestie's baby turned one a few weeks back, and we celebrated with a Hawaiian themed pool party and luau, complete with hula dancers.  I wore this easy summer outfit to get down and dirty with toddlers ;)

The electric blue, palm tree print, screams "Miami Vice," and although not photographed, the dress is backless - making it the perfect sidekick for pool or boat days.  If you're like me though, you'd rather lather on the SPF 100 and sit underneath...what else? A nice, shady palm tree.

Miami Swim Week with Wildfox

Wildfox is generally one of the most anticipated shows of Miami Swim Week.  This year, instead of their traditional runway show, the brand opted for a nighttime, poolside presentation at the Delano Hotel. While this allowed us to get very close to the action, it was a bit difficult to photograph the looks for you because the lighting was dim, but at times, also very over exposed and harsh.

I can say, that the looks were true to the Wildfox brand; easy, and no-fuss T-shirts, pajama shorts, and crop tops.  Cheeky sayings ("Nobody Owns The Beach") on their tees and swimwear, along with oversized jumpsuits made for a fun and playful atmosphere.

The cuts on the swimwear were pretty cool too - they had styles that tied from underneath the bust, down through the torso, and also showcased halter style tops that would be really great for those among you who are more well endowed than...me :)

Traci Lynn Jewelry

Imagine a business model that allows you to be your own boss, do what you love, and earn more income.

That's the strategy behind Traci Lynn Jewelry; an online direct sales company that allows business-savy women to embark on a journey that will ultimately provide them with flexibility, capital, and the necessary training to succeed in a competitive jewelry market.  Of course, there are options, and you can join as a full-time, part-time or seasonal consultant.

Traci Lynn Jewelry recently hosted a fantastic launch party at the Diplomat Resort in Hollywood, with over 1000 people in attendance.  Dr. Traci Lynn, the company's CEO (also a motivational speaker) was in attendance.  She is an inspirational woman who began the company with $200 and big aspirations.  Today, it has grown into a booming brand that helps empower women.

Of course, it helps that the merchandise is pretty adorable!  The jewelry is crafted with Austrian crystals, and other quality materials that look the part but do not break the bank.  You can browse through their latest catalog here and here. The baubles are available for purchase online, or via home or office shows.  If you're interested, take a minute to e-mail a consultant with any questions you may have.

Take a look at some of the pieces under the cut!

Swim Week Vibes with Escape Miami, and Bianca Coletti Swim

Miami Swim Week kicked off with the third annual Escape Miami party at the Shelbourne, hosted by Annie Vazquez of the Fashion Poet.  The 6 hour long fete included drinks, illustrations by The Architect of Style, henna tattoos, and lots of Miami representation from local vendors like Mia Shoes and Juicee.  A pool side fashion show featured local brands like Bianca Coletti and Please Don't Tell Shop, while a new Miami based swimwear brand, Mohini, put on their presentation in the lobby.

I wore a dress that I've worn to death lately, but I can't help it because it's so cute and it was so reasonably priced. It's from REnamed Apparel and I got it on Shopbop (check out their other dresses like this one and this)  The yellow cork wedges I'm sporting are probably the oldest thing in my closet. I have had them for years and they're still in great shape. And now they're vintage :)

Lawyer Look: Marimekko for Casual Office Wear

Marimekko is a Finnish brand that has been around for 60 + years. They have traditionally put out strong, colorful patterns on their dresses, skirts and tops.  You can also find those prints transferred onto items for the home, like their trays, glasware and tableware.

For today's 9 to 5 Style File, I'm wearing the Marimekko Suvetar Dress.  The fabric of the dress is lightweight due to a blend of cotton and silk; the length and fit makes it office appropriate.  I like this bold, floral pattern for a more laid back office look.

Office Wear Work Wear 9 to 5

The dress is pretty conservative on it's own - 3/4 length sleeves, etc.  It does not really need much to be ready for your 9 to 5, but the addition of a black blazer or obi belt can bring some variety to the dress and can help create a more slim silhouette.  These designs are meant to be loose fitting and have more of a boxy feel.

The addition of the obi is something you could consider for after work events.  The blazer just adds a more conservative feel the the piece, but because of the high neck, some may shy away from a jacket altogether.

I hope that you're enjoying the workwear posts.
Have a safe holiday weekend.
xx
