New In: Lexi Jewelry

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you may have seen me post about Lexi Jewelry, a local Miami company that puts out handcrafted jewelry that is way too adorable to pass up.  The detail involved in making one of the Lexi pieces is clear when you see one of the pieces in person; they're made from brass, silver or 14 karat gold filled wire, using natural stones, shells, bone and horn.

Designer Lexi Segre designs organic and marine life creations, all inspired by Miami living and fun in the sun. I was so grateful to have received two gorgeous Lexi Jewelry pieces.  I highly recommend this line! Check them out here.

My personal favorites include this stingray , these gold charms on silk ties, seen below:

OOTD: Ramona La Rue Mandy Pants + Sheree Nichole Designs + Escape Miami Style Lounge at the Sagamore Hotel

As part of Swim Week, Miami bloggers were asked to style some beach chic looks.  Our photos were on display at the Sagamore Hotel at a party and style lounge called Escape Miami.  Annie Vazquez, of The Fashion Poet put it all together; she did a great job.  Local designers and brands had tables with their goods on display (a favorite of mine is Jewel Be Mine and Fitting Room Social).  Blo Brickell had a braid bar set up and Nail Bar was doing manis.  I also got to hang with my pals, Melificent and Rosie Cordero- it was a good day.

About my pictures: I had envisioned an entirely different look - I was going to wear a long tunic with a head scarf and large hoop earrings.  On the day of my shoot, I was last to go, it was after work, and there was not a lot of time to perfect the styling of the look.  The hair scarf I had didn't work out - at all.  I switched gears completely and went with sort of a glam beach look.

As I said, I was one of the last to shoot that day, and let's just say, I wasn't feeling all that great about some things.  That being said, a big thank you to Stef for her Ramona La Rue Mandy Pants and to the very sweet Sheree Nichole for introducing me to Kareena's Swimwear and Sheree Nichole designs...I always get a lot of compliments on the sheer black top from her line that I'm wearing in the last two pictures.

I took so many pictures of great Mercedes-Benz Swim Week looks that I wanted to share them with you all.  After this series I only have Nanette Lepore and Maaji left, then back to regularly scheduled outfit posts.  I've got a lot of collaborations lined up for August and September that I'm excited to be sharing.

Thank you for reading - Happy Weekend

OOTD: Ocean Reef Weekend + Free People Tie Dye Shirt + Sea NYC Clothing Leopard Pants

We made it down to Ocean Reef this weekend because one of our good friends had an event going on and invited us to tag along.  My other half always loves the opportunity to get out on the water (fishing tourney) and I was / am in desperate need of some relaxing moments.

Ocean Reef is a high-end, invitation only, members only resort.  It is nestled off of Card Sound road in Key Largo, FL.  It is a beautiful place, with lots of water activities, a perfect family friendly environment, and the best pina coladas!  I loved hanging out at the Islander Bar and by the pool...but...

...I was getting ready to begin my relaxation weekend yesterday, when I was horrified to see a cockroach crawling all over the second sink, inside our hotel room!  All over my toiletries, hair products (my Phytoplage will never be the same), woven bracelets (sorry, Rose Gonzales and Pura Vida :(  ) and inside and around the tissue box and towels!!

Look, I get it, I'm irrational when it comes to these things because I would not kill it or go near it.  I know, I live in Florida, I was born here and these things happen, don't you know.

Thank you, Janet, from the Front Desk, for pointing out all of the above to me as I called you, while teetering on the verge of a breakdown.  It still does not negate the fact that it took 30 minutes for someone to come and spray the room for bugs and terminate the beast.  Yes, I am a woman in the workforce, in the year 2013, and I require assistance in this department. Diva?  You would think that the "Resort Fee" and overall exorbitant costs would also include pest-free accommodations.  Other than this incident, we had a great time!

I snapped some pictures dockside, in my Keys outfit that consisted of baggy and loose everything.  We did not last long outdoors, however, before the mosquitoes and the Florida summer led us back to some cool AC.

Ipanema + Asos Penthouse @ MBFWSWIM

Ipanema is a footwear company that hosted us during Swim Week in Miami.  They were also one of the official event sponsors.  They were lovely!  Because there can be a lot of rudeness, chaos and negativity during Swim Week, it was a pleasure to meet the girls from Bollare PR and Ipanema, and get some one on one time with them.  Alle Fister, who heads up Bollare, was a driving force behind a little online phenomenon you may know: Shopbop.  She is a total inspiration.  One of the coolest moments of my swim week experience was chatting with her.

Below are some snapshots from the Ipanema event and from the Asos Penthouse party.
